Pumper Tanker
Montour Falls T-20 2003 Pierce Dash Pumper Tanker
The people of our community and surrounding communities have been impacted in a positive manner due to the 2002 grant award. These funds were used to purchase a Pumper / Tanker fire apparatus. For the last fifteen years automatic mutual aid has been dispatched during daylight alarms. It would require our department to send two pieces of equipment to accomplish this request. Now we send one, leaving necessary resources in quarters to continue to provide protection to our local community. This response concept is fully equipped and staffed. This new piece of equipment responds as a single unit to meet the assigned task. The number of personnel resources assigned has not changed, just the way they are transported and deployed. This tactical change in our response system has taken local personnel resources to a higher safety level. Prior to the new vehicle’s implementation, 30-year-old safety standards were in place. Now current OSHA, DOT and NFPA safety standards are being meet. This grant award allowed us to purchase an apparatus that was engineered to have an adequate drive train to accomplish our resource delivery needs in a shorter time frame. This response time has reduced our prior response time in half. These engineered safety standards not only increased personal safety. they have impacted on more efficient deployment of fire ground resources. Ergonomically designed equipment has reduced the number of personnel resources needed to accomplish a task, freeing up personnel for other needed job tasks.
